The chairman of “Our Party” Renato Usatii believes that the excise tax on importing cars to Moldova should be at least halved. As he said in one of the broadcasts on social networks, the cheaper the import of cars into Moldova, the more cars will be registered. He presented calculations that show that revenues to the state budget could increase significantly if the excise tax on car imports is reduced.

“Both citizens and the economy will benefit. This is a huge potential, especially if we take into account that more than 1 million of our citizens are on the job and many of them would register their cars in Moldova. If we take, for example, 500 thousand cars only from the diaspora at the price of 1500 euros for “customs clearance”, we will get 750 million. But what are our authorities doing? Inst ead of harmonizing the national legislation with European standards, they harmonize the prices of cars,” Renato Usatii concluded.
